Lianhuan Quan ("Linking" or "Connected" Fist) is an advanced Xingyi form. After you have mastered all of the Wu Xing, they are combined together into this single form. Now you begin to grasp the keys to Xingyiquan and learn what makes this style unique. It brings into play the theory of mutual creation and destruction, applying it in the applications. The qi is built to a higher level and you are trained to circulate it smoothly. Advancing and retreating are taught so you can attack at short or long range. The through the Wu Xing, the five basic jings are learned, which teaches you how to apply the qi in the movements to energize the muscles to their maximum efficiency. The old masters used to also refer to this form as "Advance and Retreat Connected Fist" Altogether there are ten postures.

According to late Grandmaster Jiang Rong Qiao: "Advancing and retreating are each half of the routine. Therefore its bounds are slightly small. There is a method for stretching it out. Then it really isn't small. To stretch it out, when you arrive at the Beng Quan at the end of the front section, instead of turning the body, repeat the front section again. When you come to the Beng Quan again, you can turn around to do the second section. You can increase it this way many times."

Song of Lianhuan Quan

Suddenly advancing, suddenly retreating, the form is continuous and penetrating.
Suddenly short, suddenly long, know clearly the details of the principles.
Chaos is combined into one Qi, its bounds are vast.
Cycling left and right like the sides of a wall.
